Si — Introverted Sensing

The Archivist · Perceiving · Introverted

Subjective impression, stored and compared — the world against your internal reference.

What it actually is

Si builds a private archive of how things felt and how things are done. New input is automatically compared against that archive and flagged as "matches" or "is off". It is the source of both reliability and the intuition that something changed before anyone can name what.

How it shows up day to day

  • You notice when a friend's tone is 5% different from how it usually is.
  • You have a way a thing is done — a route, a recipe, a ritual — and deviating from it feels genuinely wrong, not merely different.
  • You remember the specific details of past situations with unusual accuracy, and you draw on them intentionally.
  • Novelty is fine in small doses; you want a stable base to return to.

At its best

Institutional memory. You keep quality consistent, catch errors that nobody else notices, and are the person who remembers why the current process exists — including which parts of it are load-bearing.

Under stress

Rigidity and catastrophising from precedent. Every deviation feels like the beginning of decline, and you may become unable to act because no option matches a stored template.

The common misreading

Si is not "having a good memory". It is impression-based, not record-based — two Si users can remember the same event with completely different emotional tone and both be accurate about what it meant to them.

Opposite attitude

Si and Ne (Extraverted Intuition) share an axis but point in opposite directions. No profile ranks both highly for long — the gap between them is what tells you which attitude is actually yours.
